Church Compliance Consulting
Twenty years as a fire captain and paramedic. A licensed church insurance broker today. One phone call to find out exactly where your church stands — and what to do about it.
How This Works
Every engagement starts the same way — with a look at what's actually happening on-site, not a sales pitch for a program.
01
A hands-on walkthrough of fire and life safety, insurance coverage, and operational risk — the same eye a fire inspector brings, applied to your building and your policies.
02
A plain-language report on what's solid, what's exposed, and where child and youth protection gaps most often hide — prioritized, not overwhelming.
03
For churches that want it: monthly compliance monitoring, Shield & Shepherd training, and CPR/First Aid certification — introduced once you know what you actually need.
Services
Every service is scoped and quoted individually during your compliance conversation — no packages pushed before you know what you need.
On-site review of fire/life safety, insurance, and operational risk, with a written report and priority action list.
Monthly retainer support with document tracking, expiration reminders, and a standing point of contact for compliance questions.
Child & youth protection curriculum for volunteers, staff, and leadership — including train-the-trainer options for larger churches.
AHA-certified and hands-only training options, taught by a certified instructor with two decades of field experience.
Evacuation, severe weather, medical response, and lockdown coordination — built from real fire and EMS response experience.
A governance-focused session on fiduciary duty, risk, and defensible decision-making for church leadership and boards.
About Josh
Josh spent twenty years as a fire captain and paramedic, much of it in a training bureau teaching others how to spot risk before it becomes an incident. He's also a licensed church insurance broker, a certified CPR and First Aid instructor, and an active lay leader in his denomination, serving on his church's Mission & Evangelism Committee.
Shield & Shepherd exists because most churches are run by volunteers doing their best with limited time — not because anyone is negligent, but because compliance work competes with everything else on a Wednesday. The goal is straightforward: find what's exposed, explain it in plain language, and help fix it at a pace and price that works for a church, not a corporation.
